Olive Dolci – vegan ice cream shop Rome

I can’t believe it that I didn’t checked Happy Cow good enough to find out that Rome has a whole vegan ice cream shop!! Luckily I had still a free day left as I was teaching nearly every day yoga and stretching classes ๐Ÿ˜…

This place is not only awesome because it has only vegan ice cream, but of its special way to produce it!! It’s all made of olive oil!! And as I am the biggest olive oil lover this place was heaven for me!!

Of course the different tastes are not all olive oil flavored! Actually you’ll taste nothing of olive oil in it! But it makes such a creamy consistence for flavores like Lolla Nonna, which is like Nutella, peanut or steccialtella!

It took me a quite while to choose my flavors because there where a lot i never tried before, like white wine, red wine, black sesame and and and ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚

So I decided for Goji, green tea, Lolla Nonna and coconut! Later I got to taste a bit of the olive oil ice cream and it was sooo delicious only with a really soft taste of olive oil! For me it could even have been more ๐Ÿ˜œ

But that’s still not all! They have ice cream on a stick and a few different cakes, made of olive oil base as well ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I don’t have to mention that I had to take also an ice cream on a stick ๐Ÿ˜…

This by far is my favorite ice cream place in Rome and I can’t wait to come back to taste a lot more of all these, I guess over 30, different flavored ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Soy – vegan Vietnamese Restaurant Berlin Mitte

This year couldn’t start any better with finally exploring the vegan Vietnamese restaurant soy in Berlin Mitte!!

I was about time to finally see this place because it’s really awesome! The restaurantย is located next to Volksbรผhne at Rosa Luxemburg Platz and you can see it while you are sitting inside through the big windows!

We took a while till we were able to decide what to order because everything on the menu sounded delicious! There are quite a few dishes I never ate before! We had homemade ice tea and decided for papaya salad and a Vietnamese crunchy crepe as starters, a glass noodle dish and a hotpot as mains and of course dessert, fried banana with sticky rice and coconut cream ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

Everything was sooooo good!! We really have to go there again because there is so much more on the menu to try!! Next time we’ll go for the hot pot for 2 !!

As their name already suggests, you will find a lot of tasty Tofu creations on the menu! But not only is it a great place to have vegan food, the intention is as well to serve healthy and fresh dishes! They mostly use organic ingredients without artificial colors or flavor enhancers!

If you are in Mitte you really have to take a look at this place! It’s amazing!!

DEUTSCH

It took a while and was long planned but finally I made it to post about a very special place for me here in Berlin !!ย Cupcake Berlin ๐Ÿ’˜

When I came to Berlin this place was the first one, I ate consciously something which was 100 percent vegan! Of course I ate a lot of vegan things before without thinking about it, but never something delicious like one of these cupcakes, which were at this time not so easy to find vegan! At this time I still was vegetarian but with eating this cupcake and seeing that I still could eat everything, one of the first steps to a vegan diet was made!! Continue reading Cupcake Berlin

Sixty Degrees

That’s the thing with Berlin: there is such a huge amount of ever expanding vegan discoveries to be explored that it’s difficult to keep up with it all sometimes.

That’s why we are quite happy if people get in touch with us about suggestions, letting us know about new vegan spots or new vegan dishes on the menu.

This is how we found out about Sixty Degrees, who are a vegetarian coffee shop, serving speciality coffee, breakfasts, lunch, sandwiches, smoothies, cakes and a lovely typical Berliner atmosphere with a book exchange corner and changing art exibitions. ย  Continue reading Sixty Degrees

Gardaland – Italy

After an incredible vegan experience in Verona, I still was surprised to find vegan food in an amusement park at Lake Garda!! And not only accidentally vegan items but real conscious chosen vegan dishes with an extra remark on their food flyer!

I mean to find vegan stuff like sugar apples, vegan ice cream like sorbet or Granita, fried nuts, fruits etc etc, is not that difficult everywhere!

But finding healthy and delicious vegan food I didn’t expected in an amusement park in Italy ๐Ÿ˜…

Called the vegan kiosk or Sultan Kiosk, there is a spot in the Arabic area which makes delicious vegan food! There where 3 menus to choose of and now the best!!! Three different desserts! And guess what it was! Two different vegan cheesecakes and on vegan chocolate cake!!! I couldn’t be more happy ๐Ÿ˜ Continue reading Gardaland – Italy

Falafel Dream 2010

After searching and searching vegan places in Wedding I actually found one began place just around my corner!! And of course as there is plenty of this in Wedding, it’s all about falafel and kebab but fully vegan!!

I had so far the falafel which is my favorite, the vallumi (vegan Halloumi), the Vรถner (vegan dรถner kebab) and the vegetable Dรผrรผm! They also have cous cous salad, sweat potato fries, beans and other side dishes. For your Dรผrรผm you can choose different sauces and every week there’s a different sauce of the week like papaya, artishok or broccoli sauce. My favorites are sesame and peanut sauce! And last but not least make sure to take vegan baklava as desert! I always go for the baklava box ๐Ÿ˜œ

The food truck is at the Sbahn station and has an outdoor seating area in front of the truck.

Arbonne Protein Mix Chocolate & Vanillaย

photos sarita3

Us girls from Berlinveganlove finally got together again in my current home in Stoke Newington, London. We had lots of fun and laughter and also a lot of food. We explored vegan restaurants in London that we haven’t blogged about yet (all to come in the next few weeks ๐Ÿ™‚ ) And we created new raw-vegan recipes in my kitchen. As we are both into yoga and sports and Aino dances a lot we enjoy a little protein boost from time to time.

If you are vegan you have probably experienced people bombarding you with the question “where do you get your protein from?” Infact this is a running joke amongst vegans and there are quite a few funny youtube videos on that topic like this song for example:

Infact It is easy for a vegan diet to meet recommendations for protein, as long as the calorie intake is adequate It is more important to eat a varied diet throughout the day than the strict protein combining which is not necessary.

If you are working out a lot though, your protein needs can be higher. For us that means taking care to nourish ourselves after workout with either a natural occurring protein like chia seeds, asparagus, pumpkin seeds, broccoli, almonds, quinoa, spinach, peanuts, oatmeal, kale, tofu, beans, lentils, spirulina….(and the list goes on and on ๐Ÿ™‚ ) or a protein supplement after our training to help our muscles to recover and to get stronger.
We got two samples of protein powder given by lovely Michelle from Arbonne who are a cruelty free company so that we could test them in our post-workout recipes. Airbonne is a company that has decided to be as “green” as possible, providing pure and natural products. Apart from nutritonal products they also stock skin care, bath&body and cosmetics. All are natural products, botanically based and vegan certified.
Here is a link to the protein powder: http://www.arbonne.com/Pws/homeoffice/store/AMUS/catalog/Post-Workout,1026.aspx

www.michellemcatee.arbonne.com

The recipes that we created are very simple and easy to make with solely natural preferably organic ingredients and you can of course also make them without the protein powder as a normal dessert!

Here we created a Chocolate Protein Avocado Pudding with raw cacao powder, avocados, bananas, maple syrup and the chocolate protein powder by Arbonne which is vegan, GMO-free, gluten free and absolutely delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 2 soft&ripe avocados
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp Arbonne chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

protein pudding copy

Directions:

1. spoon out the avocados into your food processor or blender
2. Add bananas, cacao powder, protein powder and maple syrup and blend until smooth
3. decorate with raspberries and raw cacao nibs

We also made this baby! A raw-vegan Vanilla-Raspberry Protein Smoothie. For that we used bananas, flax seeds, raspberries, Provamel almond yoghurt which is sugar free and the Arbonne vanilla Protein powder.

photos sarita5

Ingredients:

  • 2.5 ripe Bananas
  • 2 Tbsp soaked Flaxseeds
  • 1.5 cup Provamel Almond Yoghurt
  • 2 Tbsp Arbonne Vanilla Protein powder
  • 1 Cup Raspberries

protein powder

Directions:

1. soak flaxseeds for about 10 to 15 minutes
2. Peel bananas and place in blender
3. add Yoghurt plus the soaked flaxseeds as well as the protein powder
4. blend and pour half amount of the mixture into your smoothie glasses
5. blend remaining smoothie with the raspberries
6. pour on top of the vanilla smoothie

If you like you can decorate the smoothie with mashed up raspberries like we did in the last picture.

So our conclusion: if you are doing a lot of  sport and work out it can be very helpful to add extra protein to your nutrition! With the Arbonne protein mix you can easily make tasty smoothies, shakes, puddings or just add it in your porridge for example!

A place full of cats and good food which you shouldn’t miss in Rome!! I came there in the afternoon so I couldn’t get the full lunch menu anymore. But they still had Quiche and a lot of cakes! I really had an excellent raw food cake!! You can also have smoothies, juices, salads and coffees.

And the best thing, you can hang out with all the cats who are relaxing in every corner of this place. Or read a cat book in the cosy little second floor!
